Moving in Coronado

The Village and older homes

Coronado’s Village has older cottages and larger homes on small lots, with alleys, narrow driveways and very tight street parking. We check where the truck can stop, use the alley when it is the closest access and take apart furniture that will not clear older doorways.

Condo towers and the Cays

Coronado Shores has high-rise condo buildings with elevators, loading areas and move rules, and the Coronado Cays is a gated waterfront community with its own HOA. Most ask for a certificate of insurance and set move hours; we send the COI ahead and book the crew into your window.

The bridge, the Strand and military moves

The San Diego–Coronado Bridge and the Silver Strand to Imperial Beach are the only roads in, and both slow down at shift changes for the naval bases. Many moves here are Navy families; for base housing, check the access rules with your housing office first. Moves to San Diego, Chula Vista or Imperial Beach are short hourly moves.

How it works

Your Coronado move in four steps

  1. Step 1: Tell us about the move

Call or send the form with both addresses. A short phone or video walk-through of your Coronado home sizes the crew and the truck.

  2. Step 2: Get a written estimate

Hourly rate, crew size and estimated hours in writing before you book. Weekday and mid-month dates are the easiest to get.

  3. Step 3: Moving day

The lead mover calls ahead, the crew protects floors and door frames and wraps every piece of furniture before it leaves the room.

  4. Step 4: Set up in the new home

Furniture placed where you want it, beds and tables put back together, and a walk-through with you before the crew leaves.

FAQ

Moving in Coronado: questions and answers

Local moves are hourly for the crew and truck, plus double drive time between your two addresses. On weekdays two movers start at $119 an hour and three at $159; weekends and month-end can differ. A two-bedroom condo is usually a half-day for two or three movers; a Village home with alley access and stairs takes longer, which the estimate shows up front. You get a written estimate after a short video walk-through.

Yes. Send us the HOA or building requirements and we issue the certificate of insurance before moving day, then book the crew into your move window.

Yes, when the base allows the crew in. Ask your housing office what a moving company needs for access and send us the details. If the Navy is arranging and paying for your move, confirm with your transportation office before you book a private mover.

Yes, at flat fees quoted in advance: upright pianos from $199, grand pianos from $249 and safes from $99, more when there are stairs. See piano moving.

Tips for your move

Moving to the Inland Empire: Cities, Commutes and Heat

Most people moving to the Inland Empire tell us the same thing: they want more space. A bigger yard, a garage that fits a car, a newer house, or simply more home for the money than they could find in Los Angeles or Orange County. Our headquarters is in Moreno Valley, so the Inland Empire is home turf for our crews, and we see what works (and what goes wrong) on moving day across both counties.

Moving to North County San Diego: Coast vs. Inland Guide

North County San Diego is the stretch of San Diego County between Camp Pendleton and the city of San Diego. When people talk about moving to North County San Diego, they usually mean one of five cities: Oceanside, Carlsbad, Vista, San Marcos or Escondido. Our Escondido office runs moves across all of them, and the first question we help people answer is simple: coast or inland?

Moving from the Bay Area to Southern California: A Guide

Moving from the Bay Area to Southern California is one of the most common long-distance moves in the state. We see it from San Francisco, the East Bay, the Peninsula, San Jose and Sacramento, headed to Los Angeles, Orange County, the Inland Empire and San Diego. Because the whole trip stays inside California, it works differently from a local hourly move, and knowing how it works makes planning much easier.
