Moving in Manhattan Beach

The Sand Section and walk streets

West of Highland Avenue, many homes are on walk streets or the Strand where a truck cannot drive. Lots are small and homes are tall, with three floors of stairs and rooftop decks. We park on the nearest street, carry from there and plan the crew for the stairs.

Large homes in the Tree and Hill Sections

East of the beach, the Tree Section and the Hill Section have large two-story homes, many new, with heavy furniture, art and outdoor living areas. We bring enough blankets and shrink wrap for the whole house, and our packing service can box fragile pieces ahead.

Sepulveda Boulevard and parking

Sepulveda Boulevard and Rosecrans Avenue carry most traffic, and street parking near the beach is very tight on summer weekends. Weekday mornings are fastest. Moves to Hermosa Beach, El Segundo or Redondo Beach are short hourly moves. See local moving.

How it works

Your Manhattan Beach move in four steps

  1. Step 1: Tell us about the move

Call or send the form with both addresses. A short phone or video walk-through of your Manhattan Beach home sizes the crew and the truck.

  2. Step 2: Get a written estimate

Hourly rate, crew size and estimated hours in writing before you book. Weekday and mid-month dates are the easiest to get.

  3. Step 3: Moving day

The lead mover calls ahead, the crew protects floors and door frames and wraps every piece of furniture before it leaves the room.

  4. Step 4: Set up in the new home

Furniture placed where you want it, beds and tables put back together, and a walk-through with you before the crew leaves.

FAQ

Moving in Manhattan Beach: questions and answers

Local moves are hourly for the crew and truck, plus double drive time between your two addresses. On weekdays two movers start at $119 an hour and three at $159; weekends and month-end can differ. A large home with heavy furniture and art needs a bigger crew and more time; a walk-street home adds carrying time. The estimate shows both up front. You get a written estimate after a short video walk-through.

Tips for your move

Moving to the Inland Empire: Cities, Commutes and Heat

Most people moving to the Inland Empire tell us the same thing: they want more space. A bigger yard, a garage that fits a car, a newer house, or simply more home for the money than they could find in Los Angeles or Orange County. Our headquarters is in Moreno Valley, so the Inland Empire is home turf for our crews, and we see what works (and what goes wrong) on moving day across both counties.

Moving to North County San Diego: Coast vs. Inland Guide

North County San Diego is the stretch of San Diego County between Camp Pendleton and the city of San Diego. When people talk about moving to North County San Diego, they usually mean one of five cities: Oceanside, Carlsbad, Vista, San Marcos or Escondido. Our Escondido office runs moves across all of them, and the first question we help people answer is simple: coast or inland?

Moving from the Bay Area to Southern California: A Guide

Moving from the Bay Area to Southern California is one of the most common long-distance moves in the state. We see it from San Francisco, the East Bay, the Peninsula, San Jose and Sacramento, headed to Los Angeles, Orange County, the Inland Empire and San Diego. Because the whole trip stays inside California, it works differently from a local hourly move, and knowing how it works makes planning much easier.
