Moving in Pasadena

Pasadena homes are older and more varied than most of Los Angeles: historic Craftsman and Spanish Revival houses with narrow doorways and original wood floors, garden apartments with exterior stairs, and newer mid-rise condos along Colorado Boulevard and Lake Avenue with loading docks and elevator rules.

We plan each of those differently. Historic homes get extra floor runners and door-jamb protection and, where needed, furniture taken apart to clear tight hallways. Condo moves are scheduled to the building’s elevator window with the certificate of insurance sent ahead. For the hills in Linda Vista, Upper Hastings Ranch and near the Arroyo we check the street first and bring a truck that can turn around.

Moving within the San Gabriel Valley, to Altadena, South Pasadena, San Marino or Arcadia, is a short hourly local move. Moving farther, the same crew can take you anywhere in Southern California, or on a dedicated truck to Northern California.

How it works

Your Pasadena move in four steps

  1. Step 1: Tell us about the move

Call or send the form with both addresses. A short phone or video walk-through of your Pasadena home sizes the crew and the truck.

  2. Step 2: Get a written estimate

Hourly rate, crew size and estimated hours in writing before you book. Weekday and mid-month dates are the easiest to get.

  3. Step 3: Moving day

The lead mover calls ahead, the crew protects floors and door frames and wraps every piece of furniture before it leaves the room.

  4. Step 4: Set up in the new home

Furniture placed where you want it, beds and tables put back together, and a walk-through with you before the crew leaves.

FAQ

Moving in Pasadena: questions and answers

Hourly for the crew and truck, plus double drive time between your two addresses. A one-bedroom apartment is usually a half-day for two movers; a three-bedroom Craftsman with a garage is most of a day for three or four. Get a written estimate after a short video walk-through.

Yes. Floor runners, plastic covering and door-jamb protectors are standard on every move, and we take extra care in historic homes with original floors and plaster walls.

Yes. Street closures and event parking on New Year’s Day and on Rose Bowl game and concert days make moves slow. Pick another day and the move will be faster and cheaper.

Tips for your move

Moving to the Inland Empire: Cities, Commutes and Heat

Most people moving to the Inland Empire tell us the same thing: they want more space. A bigger yard, a garage that fits a car, a newer house, or simply more home for the money than they could find in Los Angeles or Orange County. Our headquarters is in Moreno Valley, so the Inland Empire is home turf for our crews, and we see what works (and what goes wrong) on moving day across both counties.

Moving to North County San Diego: Coast vs. Inland Guide

North County San Diego is the stretch of San Diego County between Camp Pendleton and the city of San Diego. When people talk about moving to North County San Diego, they usually mean one of five cities: Oceanside, Carlsbad, Vista, San Marcos or Escondido. Our Escondido office runs moves across all of them, and the first question we help people answer is simple: coast or inland?

Moving from the Bay Area to Southern California: A Guide

Moving from the Bay Area to Southern California is one of the most common long-distance moves in the state. We see it from San Francisco, the East Bay, the Peninsula, San Jose and Sacramento, headed to Los Angeles, Orange County, the Inland Empire and San Diego. Because the whole trip stays inside California, it works differently from a local hourly move, and knowing how it works makes planning much easier.
