Moving in Laguna Beach

Hillside homes and narrow streets

Laguna Beach is built on steep hills, with narrow, winding streets, long stairways to the front door and very little parking. A full-size truck does not fit everywhere. We check the street before moving day, bring a truck that suits it and send enough movers so the stairs and the carry stay quick.

Cottages, art and ocean-view homes

Many homes hold art, glass, ceramics and furniture that need careful wrapping. We bring enough blankets, shrink wrap and boxes for the whole house, and our packing service can box art, mirrors and china ahead of moving day. Gated communities along the coast usually need the truck on the guest list and a certificate of insurance.

Pacific Coast Highway, Laguna Canyon Road and festival season

Pacific Coast Highway and Laguna Canyon Road are the main routes in, and both are slow on summer weekends and during the summer art festivals. Weekday mornings outside summer are fastest. Moves to Laguna Niguel, Aliso Viejo or Dana Point are short hourly moves. See local moving.

How it works

Your Laguna Beach move in four steps

  1. Step 1: Tell us about the move

Call or send the form with both addresses. A short phone or video walk-through of your Laguna Beach home sizes the crew and the truck.

  2. Step 2: Get a written estimate

Hourly rate, crew size and estimated hours in writing before you book. Weekday and mid-month dates are the easiest to get.

  3. Step 3: Moving day

The lead mover calls ahead, the crew protects floors and door frames and wraps every piece of furniture before it leaves the room.

  4. Step 4: Set up in the new home

Furniture placed where you want it, beds and tables put back together, and a walk-through with you before the crew leaves.

FAQ

Moving in Laguna Beach: questions and answers

Local moves are hourly for the crew and truck, plus double drive time between your two addresses. On weekdays two movers start at $119 an hour and three at $159; weekends and month-end can differ. Long stairways, narrow streets and fragile art add time, which the estimate shows up front. You get a written estimate after a short video walk-through.

We check the street first and bring a truck that fits. If a large truck cannot get close, we park where it is safe and carry from there; long carries and stairs are part of the hourly rate.

Yes. Blankets and shrink wrap are included on every move, and fragile pieces can be boxed on request. Every move includes Released Value coverage at $0.60 per pound per item at no cost, and additional coverage can be arranged; see valuation coverage.

Yes. Send us the HOA or building requirements and we issue the certificate of insurance before moving day, then book the crew into your move window.

Tips for your move

Moving to the Inland Empire: Cities, Commutes and Heat

Most people moving to the Inland Empire tell us the same thing: they want more space. A bigger yard, a garage that fits a car, a newer house, or simply more home for the money than they could find in Los Angeles or Orange County. Our headquarters is in Moreno Valley, so the Inland Empire is home turf for our crews, and we see what works (and what goes wrong) on moving day across both counties.

Moving to North County San Diego: Coast vs. Inland Guide

North County San Diego is the stretch of San Diego County between Camp Pendleton and the city of San Diego. When people talk about moving to North County San Diego, they usually mean one of five cities: Oceanside, Carlsbad, Vista, San Marcos or Escondido. Our Escondido office runs moves across all of them, and the first question we help people answer is simple: coast or inland?

Moving from the Bay Area to Southern California: A Guide

Moving from the Bay Area to Southern California is one of the most common long-distance moves in the state. We see it from San Francisco, the East Bay, the Peninsula, San Jose and Sacramento, headed to Los Angeles, Orange County, the Inland Empire and San Diego. Because the whole trip stays inside California, it works differently from a local hourly move, and knowing how it works makes planning much easier.
